Yao Fuzi Cuisine owner, Chris Yao says his Plano restaurant has “nice ambiance for people, good quality food and it is family run,” but it is so much more than that.

If you've not traveled to China, you probably have never tasted real Chinese cuisine nor do you realize that each region of China has its own style of cooking. Unless, of course, you've dined at Yao Fuzi in Plano where the chef specializes in "Shanghainese" cuisine like you find in the port city of Shanghai on the East China Sea. Shanghainese flavors are more delicate, more elegant which certainly pairs well with the chic, contemporary decor of the restaurant itself.

In 2007, Chris Yao and Alex Yao opened Yao Fuzi Cuisine in Plano. Fuzi actually means father and son in Chinese and the venture has been golden since the beginning. Every restaurant reviewer who dines there falls in love with the place, even the persnickety ones who don't usually review "Chinese restaurants."

Something else that might surprise you is the lavish selection of wines. Chris will be happy to help pair one of more than 350 wines with your dinner selection. Three hundred and fifty wines!

Chef Alex Yao

Chef Alex Yao has been in the hospitality for more than 30 years, including a stent at the Shanghai Hilton. All of the recipes, all of the sauces, all of the magic are the creations of Chef Alex and he's a stickler for quality. Nothing leaves his kitchen that isn't perfect, having first passed inspection of his watchful eye. Everything has got to be right which is why Chef Alex only trusts the making of their incredible dumplings to his wife who makes each one by hand.

Owner, Chris Yao is the face of Yao Fuzi Cuisine. He can always be found out front visiting with friends and neighbors who frequent Yao Fuzi again and again. Chris loves people and it shows by the way he greets new customers and patiently guides them through their first dining experience at Yao Fuzi.
